unable to download video in whatsapp

I also faced same issued today after downloading latest version. I deleted and installed again then also same issue.

I raised the issue to whatsapp support with all the details and screen shots also but they gave vague response. see below their response which has no meaning.

Question asked by me : - Not able to download videos which I received in my whatsapp window either individually or from other whatsapp group. I tried both wifi and cellular options to download. I have iPhone 6 and this issue occurred after installing latest whatsapp version 2 or 3 days ago. I deleted whatsapp and installed it again if that resolves issue..but no luck. See picture below to see what happens when I try to download videos. Photo downloading is fine.

I rebooted phone also couple of times.

If you were able to get WhatsApp to fix the problem, how about sharing that with others. According to the other poster, WhatsApp stated it would be a while before a fix was issued, if you read the rest of the thread.

A solution that worked for me...

Open Watsapp. Go to settings.

Go to CHATS. Then to CHAT BACKUP.

Under chat backups you will find the tab "Include videos"

Ensure that this tab is switched on.

Thereafter resart Watsapp and download videos.

Yes, that resolved my issue too.

Actually yesterday I also tried this option at my end but I had not restarted my iphone so it did not work for me.

But today, after your response, I did the same thing and restarted iphone also and it worked.

Although, it is still a bug from whatsapp because that button is meant for whether we need to take back up of videos or not and should not be related to downloading of videos, but for now as a workaround, would be okay to proceed.

Discussion of issues while on beta software cannot be discussed on the public forum. Please report this via the reporting app you have as part of the beta program and honor the NDA that you signed as part of the beta program.

After describing clearly the issue to Whatsapp Support Team, I didn't do anything to fix this bug. Instead, the next reply from them is the information that the fix will be applied on next version which is not known exactly when it's going to be available. Same format as the one received by ktamboli.

The videos are just suddenly become download able. I didn't even need to restart the app.

I'm still on iOS 10.3.3, so I can confirm this is app related problem, not iOS.

Same here it happens to me today!

Contact whatsapp support. That is not an Apple product.

I am not able to download video on WhatsApp after the upadate of the app ...

Updated today and video is not downloadin

I suggest that you contact WhatsApp support and ask them, since this error occurred after you updated their app.

someone knows how to go back to previous whatsapp version in iphone ? (till the time they will fix the issue in future release?)

I was also experienced the same thing. But after reported this issue to Whatsapp Support Team and clarified the condition, they seem to be able to solve that.
