Adding passes to Wallet via iPad

I understand that there is no actual Wallet app on the iPad, but as Wallet works with iCloud you should be able to add passes to Wallet on an iPad for later use with an iPhone. I've always been able to add them using my MacBook Pro, which doesn't have the Wallet app, and iCloud stores them so they appear on my iPhone. I've tried doing the same on my iPad but the pass doesn't pop up like it does on iPhone or Mac, I just get an error message saying 'Download Failed Safari cannot download this file'.

has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it? I've tried the usual things like restarting Safari, signing out of iCloud and back in, hard rebooting the device but I still get the same message. what I really need to find out is whether this is due to an error on my specific device or if this happens simply because the passes aren't designed to download onto iPad as they do on iPhone or Mac.

I’ve experinced this issue today.

last week, I bought tickets on my Mac for something, and it gave the option to add to wallet. When I clicked, it told me that the tickets would be added to my wallet through icloud. Checked my iphone, and there they were. Super convenient. However, bought other tickets on my iPad today, hoping the same thing would happen. Nope. I’m with you. If all the devices are connected to icloud, then why can’t it work for all ‘non wallet’ devices? If the Mac can be so intuitive, why not the iPad? Surely some tech somewhere understands that we are not going to rock up to the cinemas showing the ushers our booking confirmations on our macs and iPads, right?

Passes cant be used on a Mac either, but like I stated, you can add a pass to Wallet on a Mac and iCloud syncs it with Wallet on the iPhone. Say you booked something on your iPsd because it's easier than on a phone, you should be able to add it directly from the confirmation page and have it sync, same as you can from a Mac.

Anecdotal? No more than what you've just replied with. It's a function of iCloud, and the discussion, which I started, comes from the fact that it is possible on an OS X device.

I booked a cinema ticket and the confirmation page and the confirmation email both had an 'Add to Passbook' button showing on my iPad (admittedly they're behind on their terminology). The button simply opens a download in Safari, which my cannot be downloaded to the iPad. Perhaps

Perhaps it simply is because iPad doesn't support it, but the fact that it can be done on a Mac leaves me with some doubt.

It would download add be sent to iCloud as it does in OS X. As it turns out, after having spoke to customer support that iCloud support for Wallet is built into OS X (even though Wallet itself isn't present), but not into iOS for iPad despite it being included in settings to support ApplePay. They've suggested leaving feedback, which I've done.

Anecdotal experience and no clue if this has any bearing on the discussion.

I Recently booked a reservation for a hotel room on my iPad. When I received the confirmation email on the iPad, there was no option tap on in order to add it to Passbook. When I open the same email on the iPhone, there is an option at the very top to add it to Passbook, I assume because wallet passes do not exist on an iPad.
