iPhone 6s Dramatic Battery Loss Since iOS 9.3 / 9.3.1

Has anyone seen any dramatic drop in battery life on their iPhone 6s since iOS 9.3 and 9.3.1 have been released?

Usually when I go for my regular 90 minute run with the GPS on and music playing my battery drops from 100% to around 80-85%. Ever since I upgraded to iOS 9.3 and 9.3.1 it is dropping to 60%-65%, so much so that I can actually see the 1% drops around twice a minute.

Nothing unusual is showing in the Battery section of the settings with no screen or background activities showing excessive time and nothing out of the ordinary. As I am typing this it is currently showing 1h 10 mins of use with the battery at 65%, normally this would be at around 85% for me.

It may not be an issue with 9.3 or 9.3.1 but this only started happing on the actual release day of 9.3 and the recent release of 9.3.1 has not helped at all.

If I go for the run with Airplane Mode on and just the music playing it also drains the battery down to around 65%-70% on a 90 minute run so I can't see it being a GPS, Bluetooth or Apple Watch issue.

I have reset all settings and wiped and restored the entire device which has not helped in anyway.

The other strange thing is that when I plug it in to be charged from around the 65% mark it is charging remarkably fast going back up to around 80% in around 3-4 minutes and up to 90% in around 10 minutes, again this has only been happing since the dramatic drops starting happing at the release of 9.3

Has anyone else got this issue or any advice on what to do? Is there something new in 9.3 that I have not turned off that is draining it?

This might be obvious but you didn't say you tried it. Have you tried a force restart? Hold sleep/wake (some call it power) button and home key together until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds) and see if power usage improves.

If that doesn't do it, you could Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will not cause data loss.

I have the same issue with my 6. the day after 9.3 my battery lasted 4 hours and I never used it. I charge 4 times a day, whereas I use to charge every other day. I went to the online Apple chat to see if they could help me and they did a remote diagnostic of my battery and said it was just fine. That was it, basically made me feel like I was wrong and that everything was fine. My phone is 3 months old and its pretty tuff to have any confidence in it when you never know when the battery is going to die in a few hours. Actually, my 4 year old iphone 4 had a better battery. Very frustrated with Apple and their support.

Step by step Apple become just a piece of junk because of IOS. My 6S Plus has work flawless on 9.3 but on 9.3.1 i experienced dramatic battery drain. Overnight i loose about 50%. Background app refresh off. Is not the first time on 9.3.1. My phone has work ok only with 9.0 and 9.3. Shame on you Apple, big shame

I had the same issue after 9.3 and 9.3.1. In addition, my sync/power cord would not work. Some cables worked, but many certified ones did not.

I'll skip all of the history of resets and phone calls with the help line and jump straight to my appointment with Apple support. They tested the cable and confirmed it was fine and my phone was the issue. After 2 hours of BS and trying resets and everything else possible, they finally replaced the phone because it would never acknowledge my cable or other cables at the store. They acknowledged there was a known issue and said they didn't mind replacing the phone, but it was 2 painful hours of delays and excuses before the finally agreed to replace it. Obviously that solved the issue. My experience has been very bad with Apple on this, and I spent in excess of 10 hours trying to get my phone working and that is very frustrating. They clearly should have vetted this upgrade out a bit better before rolling it out. My advice is push for a new phone, because 3 full resets did not fix mine.

Yes I have seen it. I have a 6S and ever since I updated the software I have had battery drain issues. It is the update too as much as apple doesn't want to say it is, because before the update I never had issues with battery. Was on phone with apple for an hr while guy uninstalled my software and gave me new software and that didn't work either because a week later my phone died at 60% and right before it happened I had it on a charger and battery life was going down not up. No joke. After a hard reset it came back on saying 65% battery life left. Went to apple and lady fixed it saying it was something to do with restoring my iphone back to what it was, so I had to set it up as a new Iphone. The next day the battery was wonky again but yet they kept telling me battery was fine. Went to Verizon and I should have another phone today. Hopefully this one works. If it doesn't I am going to be upset with apple. They say its not a common issue but it is and they won't admit that at all. That is most likely why they have yet to come out with a fix for it! They need to fix the battery issue or else they are going to have a lot of upset customers and a lot of people going to a different phone!
