iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

Hi, I have just purchased iPhone SE 64GB in UK, and have same issue with distorted speech from callers when using Bluetooth in car.

The phone is running IOS 9.3 (13E233) - and is fresh out of the box.

Tried calling different contacts - to eliminate potential reception issues at the recipient's end, and they all said they can hear me ok.

My car is a Hyundai ix35 2010. Previously I had a trusted iPhone 4 - and this worked fine.

Please Apple confirm whether this is an IOS glitch and software fixable?

Thanks

Terry

I quote Terry since as reported before, I'm in the same situation (apart the car model of course). And I think that for us new buyers it is very important to know as soon as possible if Apple considers this as an IOS/software (fixable) related issue and not an hardware defect, because in case this would result as an hardware issue we need the required time to eventually return back the phone to the Apple Store leveraging the guarantee.

Thanks,

Flavio.

My experience with the iPhone SE was different than what I see being reported. I had mostly good calls via Bluetooth connected to my 2015 Ford F150 Sync. Only a subset of my calls were bad, as described by everyone else. I even had one call that started bad and improved within about 1 minute to a very good acceptable quality for the remainder of the call. Also different is that I had at least one (I think several) call(s) that was of very poor quality (as described) but it was just the iPhone, not going through any Bluetooth connection at all.

I returned my iPhone SE, but I've followed and read almost every post on this thread out of curiosity. The only thing that I see different in my situation vs what I've seen reported here is that this was my first iPhone, so it was setup as "a new iPhone" out of the box rather than migrating data/configuration from a previous iPhone. Theoretically that should be the same situation as people that have reset their phones (after already having the issue) and setting them up as "a new iPhone", which some people have tried to no avail.

Hope this helps or at least gives hope. Good luck.

I bought my iPhone SE 16GB 4 days ago in Italy and I'm facing the same issue!

the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

I've a Toyota Yaris and with my Old iPhone 4 I've never had this kind of issue!!!!

I hope that Apple will solve this problem soon because bluetooth is necessary for me since I travel a lot with my car and use the phone is illegal in Italy as well!!

I was so happy when I bought it but now I'm very disappointed!

😠

Hope this will solved soon.

is there anyone that has been able to solve it in some way?
