iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

Hi sorry it didn't work out for you.

not sure if you did it from ITunes, this path worked fro me, I did try a factory reset from the phone, and back up from the cloud first this was a fail, I know not everybody uses iTunes but would recommend a go

No, neither forced update or restore via iTunes worked for me using this instruction:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

This was my 14th day with the SE why I made a visit to the closest Apple store to discuss the problem.

The good news is that they now admit the problem and are working on a solution.

The bad news is that they didn't yet know if it was hardware or software related, or could estimate when and how it would be fixed, according to the Apple genius in the store.

Anyway, I decided to return my SE and maybe get a new when they managed to fix it properly.

Surely if the phone don't work as advertised and they won't change it or give you your money back even after the 14 days then I would think its classed as not fit for purpose. More so with all the reports being on the apple website and if you went to the small claims court would apple not have a leg to stand on. Not sure on the sales act but I don't think they can just push it under the carpet

Hi all, as I said before, days ago I talked to an Apple Senior Consultant, who told me the issue is well known, and they're working on it to fix, either with an iOS update, or with a device recall.

I previously restored my backup, and as many of yourselves I experienced the bluetooth bad call incoming voice with my new SE.

Now this is to let you know I just decided to waste one hour of my time, and downloaded 9.3.1 firmware, installed to the SE from DFU, then set the phone as new without restoring anything.

I still experience bad incoming voice bluetooth calls, so in my case it is not backup related.
