iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

As i said, the quality varies between 40 an 80 percent depending on the caller, so someone could think, it is solved or got better if he talks first with a 80% caller.

Now i use a 5S with 9.3.1 and everything is 100% fine like the years before with every caller.

It is not about special cars, its about incoming BT voice call quality caused by the iphone SE.

If there is someone with perfectly working BT, then i think it is a hardware problem.

Why oh why Apple do you not publish a statement on your position with this issue??? If it's a bug.... please "man up" / "grow a pair" - and let us know. We are all human and accept that these things happen...

Please let us (new SE customers) and other (potential?) customers know what we should do, and also your staff working in Apple stores/genius bars etc...

I really like the SE phone but I will be forced to return this back to the retailer and re-use my iPhone 4 which works faultlessly with Bluetooth and is safe to use in my car. I have written an honest review on a major UK retailer's website on the iPhone SE explaining this situation, which I know is being read by visitors and influencing their buying decisions.

Ordered the iphone SE in space grey direct from apple as not available in store, I was really looking forward to a new phone as my 4s is 5 years old and battery life is not so good.

The SE arrived 3 days ago after it's tour of the world from China, UPS kept me well informed of it's progress.

Set up was very easy backing up from my MAC but the 1st phone call from my car via Bluetooth was not good, sound quality poor and had to ask the person to repeat the words quite often, very off putting. I tried the SE via my daughters and my wife's cars and still poor quality sound although the persons who I was talking too thought sound OK.

Spoke to apple tech person who he had not heard of this problem, they put me through to sales support and again they had not heard of this problem.

Apart from this problem phone is great.

Decide to return phone to apple for a full refund, I will re-order in a couple of months when hopefully these initial design faults have been resolved. It's back to the 4s for now.

My advice, don't become a guinea pig, apple will solve quicker if phones are returned.

What perhaps annoys me the most of all, is that the Apple staff is clearly lying about it. "Never heard of that issue". Really? 31 pages on this forum, and for each of us reporting issues here, there is probably 1000 more that doesn't report their problems on this site.

I would have had much more respect for Apple if they said "Yes, we know about the problem, and no we don't have a fix at this time". That would be fair and honest.

I Too have entered into this nightmare. tried to do a chat today with online support, but gave up after an hour of not being able to connect with any one. Decided to stop by the Apple flagship store in University Ave in Palo Alto. Figured if anyone could help me out, they could. But no one there seemed to have an inkling of the problem and the Genius (using that term loosely) decided he needed to reboot my phone . Of course he didn't bother to listen to my description if my problem, just wanted to make sure it had the latest software upgrade on it. Of course it did Before he started. When he finally listed to me describe the problem, he felt sure it was a hardware problem, this after he tried to convince me it was a software problem with the vehicles. I again politely explained that the blue tooth in the 4 cars I tried work fine with various iPhone 6's, and the SE was the only one that had the voice reception problem. So a this point he was convinced it was a hardware problem. I even showed him these posts, which he didn't really want to acknowledge. so his solution was for me to wait an hour and a half to sit with another tech to check out the phone. Obviously they don't have a clue, and it would have been so much easier if he would have just acknowledged the problem existed and let me know what my options were. But that didn't happen. I finally gave up, deciding to tackle the problem another day. I also loved one of his comments that new products from Apple typically have problems that are resolved after the fact.

IT IS TRUELY AMAZING THAT THEY TOOK ONLY 10-15 MINUTES TO TAKE MY $600 FOR THE PHONE, AND THEN NEED A COUPLE OF HOURS OF MY TIME TO MAYBE FIX A PROBLEM. CAN YOU IMAGINE AN AUTOMAKER SHIPPING A CAR WITH A DEFECTIVE PART? I THINK THEY WOULD BE DOING EVERY THING IN THEIR POWER TO NOTIFY US OF THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT.

I'm not a developer or tech guy. Just a customer who is frustrated by this event. There are now several threads in the community about this problem. Some are reporting luck with the software update. Others are not. I haven't tried this fix yet myself, but the ONLY consistent fix I've read about is resetting the network. Note, it will reset your wi-fi too. Simpply reconnect.

Settings-General-Reset (scroll to bottom of general)-Reset Network Settings.

Unpair phone with car. Repair it.

If you try this, please post results. I already did it but haven't been able to test a call in my car.

More people seem to be reporting a fix with this method than any other. I also think there are some on here doing nothing other than piling on Apple. I like their products and so long as they figure this out, without costing me, I'm good.
