Phone ringing while listing to music

If you have it set to mute, then you should not hear the phone ring. You should be able to hear your music, but not the phone ringing if the device is on mute, unless you have changed some other setting.

Okay, now that explains it. Even when on mute, when you have Bluetooth connected, the ringing comes through the Bluetooth connection. Because of that, you will get the ringing on the Bluetooth speakers or headset. There is no way to change that. It is something about the Bluetooth. I believe it is because there may be the expectation that when listening with Bluetooth, you don't have the phone next to you and would not notice the vibration. It is the same for me in the car. If I happen to forget the device is on mute, I will still get the ringing in the car if I get a call.

I'm not sure about wired headphones either. I think they may still have ringing. You can test those with your Apple earpods that come with the device. You can also change your ringtone to None if desired, especially if you always have the device set to Mute and get your phone call notification by vibration. Just a thought.

You can also mute the device, which would result in you getting your alerts only by vibration, but the device is a phone, and that is why you get the ringing over the speaker.
