iMessage Read Receipts Disappearing

This issue has been going on since the first iOS 9.3 beta and continues even on iOS 9.3.1. When someone has read receipts on, I can see when they have read my message. However, if I lock my phone, close the messages app, or just wait a couple minutes, then the indicator changes back to "Delivered" and the read receipt moves up to my previous message even if they have already replied to my latest message. I have tried turning off iMessage and resetting network settings then turning iMessage back on. I have even reset my phone and set it up as a new phone in case a backup could be the problem. I have the same problem for all of my messages.

This isn't a fix but I've noticed that if you check iMessage on a Mac, the read receipts are accurate, even when it is malfunctioning on the iPhone. I hope this bug is taken care of soon.

Still having this problem at first I thought it was a glitch cause I got this iPhone 5s brand new in September but it's still going on.

I'm also having this problem. I skipped the 9.3 update on my iPhone 6, but was forced to update to 10 when I upgraded to 7+. Never had this problem before the new phone. It's extremely frustrating that they let such a simple bug go on unfixed this long, especially with a whole new iOS rollout. Come on Apple! Either it's read or it's not!
