Backup iPhone automatically using iTunes

Hello,

Is there a option to automatically backup the iPhone when plugged into a windows laptop and is connected to iTunes? I can see the manual backup option but it would be good to know if there an automated option. If I can schedule when the backups need to happen that's even better.

Thanks,

HI

tt2,

I do understand what you are saying but my question is still unanswered; if the phone is backed up by iTunes everyday when its plugged in for the first time where can I see the most recent copy and how can I use that copy to restore my phone.

I do get the point that I need to diligent and should manually back up the device if I know something is going to happen but there is a possibility that something unexpected will happen and I am stuck with a manual backup copy from several days ago...

Lets assume I had not manually backed up my device today.. the latest back time stamp was from April 8 when I had last backed it. If I were to restore my phone today how can I ensure that the version that's getting restored is not from April 8 but from today (assuming the phone was plugged in and back up was created)?

TT2,

The option you mentioned is checked off for me... So technically this morning the syncing should have started automatically which it dint. This morning when it dint synced automatically I clikced on the 'sync' button on bottom left corner. The phone was synced and backed up too correct? If you look at the screenshot it still shows the device backup from yesterday when I had manually backed it up.

Am I missing a step?

Okay, I have unchecked the 'sync over wi-fi' box from iTunes. I will update what happens tomorrow morning. Is there a specific routine that I need to do when plugging in the phone? Like phone should be unlocked or iTunes should be open before plugging in the phone? Most of times I come into work, fire up my laptop and plug in the phone which usually is locked.

Thanks,
