iPad Pro 9.7 Random Restart

Normally wouldn't think much of this but, I have a 2 day old iPad Pro 9.7 128GB that has restart on me twice so far. In the middle of using it, it will cut to the Apple logo on the black background for a minute before returning to the passcode screen. Oddly enough, it will accept Touch ID in place of a passcode, something it doesn't usually do when it loses power. Any idea on the cause or how to figure it out? I chatted with the tech support but they only help they could provide was to do a restore. I just performed it, but my concern is that I installed an app or enabled something causing the iPad to crash and it'll simply continue to do that due to the bad app.

My random restarts stopped with 10.2 but this ipad has multiple problems. The only things the techs can tell you to do is to factory reset. The problems keep changing. One time it was freezing and now pages in Safari turn white. Apple won't admit that these ipads are defective. They will do nothing except factory resets. How many times do you need to reset the iPad to get it to work for awhile until Apple admits there is a problem..They won't admit any of their products are defective.

I have been experiencing the same as many other iPad Pro 9.7 users...random restarts. I do notice a restart sometimes when backing out of Safari, but that isn't the only restart I have experienced. There have been apps running and in the middle of running one, it just shuts down and restarts. Mine is a 256 gb with cellular. Apple has replaced it twice and it still happens...I haven't complained any longer because it seems this is something they cannot fix. I thought it might be some of my information but I now see so many others with exactly the same issue.

Hello,

So its been about a week since my last crash with my iPad Pro 9.7 256 wifi/cellular device. I have iOS 9.3.3 but I don't believe that has made much difference. I think the fact that I use chrome exclusively has made a difference. Although the crashes used to happen with various apps, it seems that when I go long periods without using safari I have less crashes. I'm not sure why this helps.

It has been nearly 4 months since these IPads have been released to the public. Many of them have random restarts and there is no end in sight. I have found posts from other countries that have the same problem. Apple has not acknowledged the problem or what they are doing about it. All they seem to do is replace one bad IPad with another. I spoke to a Senior Advisor who said she is not replacing them just sending in tickets. I am sure there will be no answer to those tickets. All Apple is doing is ruining there reputation with all of us and those we tell about the problem.

Mine has done it since I bought it. Pro 9.7, wi-fi, 128 gig. It will sometimes do it overnight and not accept a fingerprint but the full code.

Every time it happens, I notice something in the App Store under updates. An app has been updated. I have turned almost all non necessary notifications off. I have also limited them to just a bar across the top, no audio.

I am feeling rather desperate after reading all these comments. Ever since I updated my iPad 2 to iOS 9.whatever, I can't stay on a website. It reloads and reloads. Crashes and I have to work to get it to restart, not from the Apple logo, just from the black screen of death. I have come to hate my iPad 2 and thought that buying an iPad Pro would solve my problems. Now I am considering returning my new iPad Pro and requesting a refund. I'm just about done with Apple. I need a tablet that actually works, not one that doesn't work but frustrates me relentlessly.

Should I return my new iPad or keep hoping for a miracle?

I have the same problem. I have had one every year, two one year, since iPad 2. I would dismiss hardware. It will either work or not. Although I don't agree with China on any level, one thing that have mastered. They have a work ethic.

SInce my last post, I read more of these. The number one best thing to do is leave it alone. Software is out of our hands. To worry is fruitless. Easy to say but I had to work for years to stop And let them work the software.

I lost all my data with 9.0. I fiddled with it. While never having to use more the the free iCloud 5 gig, I was suddenly at 16.5.

My fault. I had flipped share on days before. 9.0 defaulted photo save on, never thought to look. I found even though I had, do not save originals, unchecked, they were saved. Another 20 gig.

I kept fiddling and it was at 49.5 gig. I kept fiddling and erased all my data.

There is one thing you might try. Turn off auto update. Every time it updates, the Apple comes up and does a partial reboot. I haven't done it because I like the updates as they come.

if you are in control of the updates, it may stop the partial reboot.

Apple released their earnings for the quarter. Glad to see the over priced, rebooting, iPad Pro helped their bottom line. Especially since the iPad line is still declining in sales, but the higher priced rebooting iPad Pro helped. They're patting each other on the backs for a job well done in releasing such a great higher priced product then before.

My work iPad Pro 9.7 reboots all the time with iOS 10 Public Beta. It is even worse than it used to be. I will be transfering my files back to my own iPad and stop using it. It now crashes on any app at any time and without the home button.

It feels like some hacker has the serial numbers of all the iPad Pro 9.7s and has written a script to random reboot our devices remotely. Otherwise it is defective memory in the device. A PC would blue screen if memory has a problem.

This is the same, however a black screen with reboot icon.

I do not believe this is software as the iPad Pro 12 inch is not doing this with 4 GB of memory. This model of the iPad is a lemon. We are looking at other options for our teachers at work made by HP.

Avoid this iPad and rather buy the Air 2. The Apple Pencil is expensive and the choice of cases and keyboards is limited. This is sad as I love my Air 2.
