Upgrading Macbook Pro A1398 Hardrive

Hello everyone,

I am new to Macs so please be patient with me, I have a Macbook Pro A13198 and I would like to upgrade the hard drive as 256GB isn't enough, i'd prefer 1TB if possible.

If any one can advise me on how to do this I would appreciate it, I googled the question and I saw SSD drives, would this be the best way to go? also, how would I get the OS on to that hard drive?

Thank you in advanced,

Regards,

Kian

OWC has compatible SSDs available:

Not cheap.

Not that the replacement of a SSD in a retina MBP will void any warranty or Apple Care.

Ciao.

Addendum: A new SSD must be properly formatted and the OSX must installed for operation. Installing is usually easiest by cloning from the original SSD.

Samsung has introduced PCIe SSDs so I would think that there would be a vendor in the UK. You will have to do some searching.

Currently the largest capacity that they offer is 512GB, but that may have changed and if not, given enough time certainly will change.
