You cannot delete an account. Your friend will have an account here with his Apple ID which is an email address (the Apple ID is/should be the same as he is using elsewhere, although you can have more than one).

FWIW, I would not let anyone sign in using my own Apple ID.

If you mean "nysbigdave" not at all easy. You will have to contact the hosts and see if they are willing to do it (they usually are reluctant). Normally we say just create a new AppleID but that can lead to other complications. Can't your friend live with it?

Edit: I put in a notice with the hosts about your wish to change the ID and it is up to them.

    Here's what you do:

    1. login with the current Apple ID credentials to > https://appleid.apple.com/
    2. change the email address that you use to login from HIS to YOURS
    3. save it

If you want your buddy to have his own, he can then create a new Apple ID with his email address with the username of his choice (or you can do it for him)

By accomplishing that all i would be doing is changing the email address associated with that appleId.

You cannot directly follow up with the hosts - it was brought to their attention and now it is in their hands - they may contact you. It used to be that usernames were only changed if they presented a serious security/privacy issue; however, they've relaxed that somewhat, but the decision is still theirs.

Your friend can also simply abandon this username and, if he wants an account here, establish a new one with his name - the old one will drop into oblivion quickly.

If I get your issue correctly:

    • nysbigdave ASC username(and Apple ID by defintion) uses Scott's email address and password(of your choice?)
    • You wish to remove Scott's email address from being associated with nysbigdave and associate it with an Apple ID FOR Scott to use in the future?

Does Scott have any purchases or services associated with his email (iTunes music, apps, iCLoud, etc.)? If that's the case, changing the ASC username is the right path. If not, my suggestion should work to get you BOTH having functioning Apple IDs.

This will not be the first time I have MIS-read between the lines

A username here is not necessarily an Apple ID by definition. My username here is absolutely, positively completely different from my Apple ID (email address).

It has always been my understanding that to change my ASC Apple ID email address (1st credential at login) is to change my Apple ID email address everywhere (1st credential at login)

Am I missing something in > Change your Apple ID - Apple Support

    Change your Apple ID

Follow these steps to change the email address that you use as your Apple ID.

    1. Sign out of every Apple service and device that uses your Apple ID.
    2. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
    3. In the Account section, click Edit. Under your Apple ID, click Change Email Address.
    4. Enter the email address you want to use as your Apple ID. A verification code will be sent to your new email address.
    5. Enter the verification code from the email into the fields provided and start using your updated Apple ID. Didn't get the email?
    6. Sign back in to all Apple services with your new Apple ID.

You can change your Apple ID to any other email address you control, as long as it's not already in use as an Apple ID. If your email address ends with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com, you might not be able to change your Apple ID. You also won't see Change Email Address on your account page.

You lost me some time ago.

    The OP asked:

How do i either delete, unlink. or change username?

The username here does not have to be an Apple ID. Of course, it is associated with one, but he didn't ask to change that. He wants to change the username since he assigned the wrong one to the friend's Apple ID. So, we're not talking about an Apple ID. But, of course, I may have misunderstood the OP. In that case, I am done here.

At any rate... the Apple ID does NOT in fact belong to "Dave" but rather "Scott" - as picky as Apple is, I would think that they might balk at dealing with Dave regarding Scott's "property"

Seemed simpler to fix the issue rather than take a chance on Apple's decision making
