Blank days in calendar at the end of a month

In Calendar in OSX on a regular Mac, each month end continues seamlessly into the following month so the last week of the ending month and the first week of the beginning month appear as a continuous week

In Calendar in iOS, such as on an iPad, each month ends with blank days such that the last week of the ending month ends on one line with the first week of the beginning month starts on the next line.

The result is that an event that bridges the month end appears to "break" at the month end. It's visually annoying and I can't find an option to set the iOS calendar so it looks the same as the OSX calendar
