how to sync iphone 5 to snow leopard

Depends on the iOS version the iPhone is running. iOS 9 requires iTunes 12.3 which will not run on Snow Leopard. It requires OSx 10.8.5 Mountain Lion at least.
Previous versions of iOS can sync with iTunes 11 that can run on Snow Leopard.
If you do have iOS 9, then you'll need to update your computer to at least Mountain Lion to get an updated version of iTunes.
If you cannot update, then there is no way to sync an iPhone running iOS 9 with Snow Leopard.
