And clearing those didn't help?

My next suggestion would be for you to go to Apple - My Apple ID, log on with your Apple ID and password, and in the Security section click Change Questions. It will put up a window that is similar to the one you are seeing on iCloud.com. Answer the two questions, and then select three questions and put in the answers. You probably will be able to select the same questions you already have if you wish. Then click Change Questions.

Once you have done that, quit Firefox, then reopen it and go to iCloud.com again to see if the issue goes away.

That is not how it works. There is only one password for an Apple ID. You may have an App-specific password if you use Two-Step Verification or Two-Step Authentication, but I believe that Pete was indicating that the current password works to sign in to iTunes and into this forum. If you change the password on the iCloud screen, it changes it for the Apple ID.

Clearly there is an issue if iTunes will let you sign in but iCloud won't. I would suggest that you send Feedback to Apple. If they are not already working on this, then the more people who report it via the Feedback link, the more likely it is that it will be attended to:

Apple - Feedback

I would also suggest that you contact iCloud Support directly, to see if they have any info on this and if they can explain why it is working everywhere except iCloud

Howdy,

I have the exact same problem, same day?: iCloud doesn't recogize my Mac, empty ID/Pwd. Keychain offers it, and that doesn't work?

Apple ID/Pwd works on iPhone, iTunes and.......logging into this forum.

Is it Flash? Since I read about the "back door" large security hole and the Adobe emergency fix, I remembered Steve Jobs hated, and have turned everything off.

Well, I know that is not what you wanted to do, but we also had another support person who was having the same issue, and he called Apple, and ultimately, he had to reset his password as well. Not sure why this is suddenly a problem, but in his case it was because his password "contained too many identical characters"....don't know if that was the case with your original password, but thanks for posting back your solution. It will be a big help to anyone else who encounters this issue.

Best of luck,

I had same problem - twice. Two days ago I went through this process, changed password and things were again working fine until this morning. Same crap again. Practically I notice this problem when my devices cannot update my iCloud mail, and then also MacBook cannot recognise my Apple ID.

It is not a solution to reset password every second day, it´s only like a temporary medicine for headache.

I am also being prompted to answer my security questions then change my password. Why?

I didn't have any failed login attempts. It never said I was locked out. I was just forward over to the security questions. I answered the questions and it prompted me to change my password. Again why?

My password already meets the minimum requirements and it doesn't have any repeating characters.

This is only happening when I try to log onto icloud.com but not when accessing icloud on my IOS devices or any icloud enabled apps on my Mac.

Only started happening early this week. I was able to login to icloud.com just fine last week.

I see this question getting recent posts here and also over in the icloud for PC forum, so it's not just a random thing. One "solution" was that Apple makes you change your password from time to time. Where is this policy stated and what is the time cycle that forces the change? If this is the case, why am I not being prompted to change the password in locations outside of icloud.com?

Having the same problem. I have had the same Apple Id for years and very happy with it. It not complicated and I don't have numbers and letters and have to stand on one leg to use it. But I am very happy with it and don't want to change it.

Why wont apple listen to its customers and back off and let us decide what password we want to use? I have looked at loads of threads on this and no one from Apple seems to be responding or interested in what the customer wants.

I spoke with Apple's iCloud support folks over the weekend. Apparently, we have exceeded a time-based password reset requirement. The support engineer could not quantify the time period. He said it was something new that he had not encountered previously. My password was also years old, so who knows?

I explained to him the problem in not only having to change the password, but also the website did not specify what the problem was or that a password change requirement was being imposed.

He apologized for this, agreed it was not very and asked that I also make note of my concerns on the Customer Feedback page: http://www.apple.com/feedback page

So, I went through the headache of changing my password.

At any rate, I wanted to give you all an explanation that went beyond posting a link to Apple Support.
