Thanks landcrusier sand rwinburn, for your relies but this is still wrong on apples part. I am only being asked to change my password when I try and log in to iCloud. I can get into and buy on itunes and to this forum using my old password no problem. Why are apple engineers on this issue as it looks like its upsetting a lot of its customers.

Glad things are working for you with one AppleID and two passwords....

My AppleID and password have been the same for over ?? years. (My first Mac was a 1988)

Obviously, iCloud has, since April 2016, a unique AppleID password.

My concern over iCloud controlling so much data, having two appleID passwords has kept me from logging into iCloud to restore my Calendars, wiped in March with a new iPhone.

Apple needs to issue a missive about this....

What are you doing when you are asked to do this? Is it a pop-up? Does the pop-up have a link you are supposed to click on, or does it actually list your security questions? Need more info.

Another couple of thoughts:

What browser do you use? Have you gone into your browser settings and cleared all website data?

Have you tried resetting your Mac?

Well which Apple ID password did you use to login to this forum? Is it the same as iCloud? or iTunes?

Continuity would suggest they are all the same.
