2 possible causes for error message about Sim not supported:

1] iPhone is currently locked to a wireless provider different from the one whose

sim you are attempting to use. Solution - contact the wireless provider to which

the iPhone is locked to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

2] wireless provider who sim you are attempting to use is not a supported

wireless provider. Solution - use a supported wireless provider.

With what wireless provider in what country are you attempting to use the iPhone?

What does it say when you look at Settings>General>About>Carrier?

You may have to scroll to see the entry for Carrier.

message re activation server -

4 possible causes for that error message:

1] Activation server is actually down. Very rare occurrence, and of short duration when it

does happen. Solution - try again.

2] Your firewall and/or antivirus software are preventing the necessary connection. Solution -

temporarily disable your firewall and/or antivirus software until the activation completes.

3] computer being used for activation has been used to jailbreak an iOS device in the past.

Solution - use a different computer.

4] iPhone has been jailbroken. Your favorite search engine may provide some direction, but jailbreaks often prevent

activations/updates from succeeding. Per Terms of Use for this forum, discussion of jailbroken iPhones is

prohibited.
