Why won't Airplay devices be visible when connected to 2.4Gz, only 5GHz

I have an Airport Extreme (current model) and an Airplay device in my house, and I run both a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz signal.

Whenever I am connected to my 5GHz wifi signal, the Airplay devices appear on all devices. however, when I am connected to the 2.4GHz channel, the Airplay devices are not visible.

Same with a printer (that is connected via USB cable to the router), only reverse situation: my computer will only find the printer if it connected to the 2.4GHz WiFi signal...not the 5GHz.

Everything is on the same "network" so why won't these things be shared? Is there a setting I am missing? There's no "guest network" set up.

There are several threads with reports of issues of network isolation between bands..

Try a reboot to start with of the whole network..

No luck do a factory reset of the Airport and do the configuration again with new names.. all short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. passwords the same but can be longer.

I suggest you actually name the 5ghz band differently.. if not already and then try again.

Make sure you set IPv6 correctly which will depend now on your ISP and if they have moved to IPv6.. if not both the Airport and the computers should be set to link-local only.. leaving it auto can cause issues.

Use ping to see if you can connect to resources on both bands..
