Driver for Canon Pixma iP7220 for Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.4

My printer is slow and does not properly obey my Print commands. I suspect I don’t have the proper driver or the driver needs repair. What should I do?

I have a MacBookPro 13” Retina display, late 2013, 2.4 GHz Intel core i5,Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Open System Information (Applications > Utilities) and select Printers in the left column. If this is the only printer you have connected to this Mac then its information will appear in the right pane. If you have more than one printer, select the Canon iP7220 in the top right pane to see its information in the bottom right pane. Can you select all this information about the iP7220, copy it and paste here for me to check the printer driver configuration.

Thanks for the information. I can see all the content in the email. Not sure what's going on with the web view.

The driver being used (v13.7) is a later version than what Canon is making available via their own web site (11.7). Knowing that Canon supplies Apple with the drivers, seems odd that they have not shared this version 13 with their own sales companies.

Anyway, with the current symptom you have I suggest you remove the current v13 driver and use the v11 available from Canon.

First step is to open Printers & Scanners, select the Canon and press the minus button to remove it.

Next, open Finder and from the menubar, select Go > Go to Folder and copy the following line of text and paste in into the Go field

/Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter/

Then press the Go button. You should now see the contents of the BJPrinter folder. Select all these folders and trash them.

Now restart your Mac. Once you have logged back in, run the v11 installer I have linked to above and when that has completed, add the printer. Now see if this operates to your satisfaction.
