I have restricted number of "subscriptions" but nothing works. I can type the link into the browser and get to the page faster than selecting the link in the news app.😕

Nah. This is not an individual phone problem, and forced restart does nothing. App is just pokey compared to Flipboard. Start it and go pour a cuppa. Maybe Apple will fiddle with it in time and it will become more user friendly.
This is not a good response to a problem everyone has. The longstanding problem is nor solved.
Apple news app is way too slow. Anything I can do to speed up download time?
