Response delay to key action

Hi,

I have a problem with my screen I suspect. When I key in a letter, sometimes it shows up immediately, sometimes there is a delay of several seconds, and sometimes it does not show up at all. I have booked an appointment with the Genius Bar next week but thought I would first ask if there is anything I can do myself e.g. factory reset.

Any advice will be appreciated.
