Carplay for Kia Sportage 2017

I got a Kia Sportage 2017 which supposed to be ready for Carplay. However, the app is not installed in the media system yet. At the dealership, no one seems to know much about it. Today I called Kia consumer affairs; they told me that the app is expected to be released on May 1 and that I should download it from the app store in my iPhone to then synchronize it to the audio system...she said i do not need to take the car to the dealership to get any upgrade as the sportage 2017 are ready. Anyone knows if this is correct? I looked in the app store and there's no carplay app; at least not yet...maybe on May 1? Thank you!

I am a salesperson for my local KIA dealer. The Apple Carplay is now available. You need to log in to your myuvo.com account and click on support at the top for the instructions on how to add this feature to your vehicle. it loks as simple as downloading it to a thumb drive, inserting it in your USB port and following the instructions.

hi,

the software upgrade is available

i downloaded it yesterday but the install in the car failed !

the system could not go back to the previous version so the entire system is now down with a message asking me to visit customer service 😟😟😟

not very professional

no Radio, no Clim control.. nothing...

i will drive to the dealership today but i'm afraid the conversation will be long and painfull (software what ?😕)

You have a myuvo.com account if your UVO system is active. you should use the same credentials to log on to it as you do the app on your phone. There will be a section devoted to updates there and you can download the update to a thumb drive and do the install yourself.


Or you can always visit the dealer and let them do the update if you want, but it should take about 20 min at home.

the instructions are clear

process is long, but everything went well until the update failed inside the car

the update progress thru step1, step 2, but failed at step3

then the system tried again 3 times. then stop on the error message


i left the car this morning at the dealership at 8AM

at 6PM they still have not found the fix 😟

they want to keep the car another day, they are in contact with the KIA tech center (?)


if i were you i will wait a bit to upgrade


(i did 3 upgrade on my last car, Ford, and everything works fine...)

I have an LX with no NAV, bought in March 2016, and I have now have Carplay on it 🙂

It's a little tricky just finding where to click on the myUvo account to find the update and instructions, so here's the way:


1) Go to www.myuvo.com and login (create an account if you don't have one already)

2) Click on 'Support' at the top of the page

3) Go down to the bottom of the page and select your vehicle (under the image of the red sportage)

4) Then click on 'Software Update' on the list to the left, and follow the steps! It is really well explained from here on.


Mine is up and running with no issues. Note that once you download the file onto your jumpdrive you have to double click it to "unzip" it. This will take about 20 minutes. The overall process took around 45 minutes.

Sorry Dreadnaught386, I was replying to the thread as a whole, not specifically to your question.


I live in the US, so won't be able to help you in Canada, unfortunately. I recommend that you call Kia's Canada customer service and ask them about this. They haven't given us very helpful answers here in the US, but at least we got an idea of when and if the download was available.
