Apple Watch charges slowly in nightstand mode using the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock?

My Apple Watch charges normally when laid flat on the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock, but when I charge it in nightstand mode, it charges extremely slowly, estimated 2% per hour. The green "charging" icon is definitely on the display, it just charges slowly. I put it on the charger at night before I go to bed, and it's only charged to about 40% in the morning. I have already swapped out the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock at a local Apple Store thinking there may have been a short in it or something. But the replacement functions the same way.

It may help to force restart your watch: press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for around 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo, then release them and wait for the watch to restart.

Also test with a different Apple USB Power Adapter (such as the one supplied with your iPhone) and a different Lightning to USB Cable (ditto).

If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation:
