Unlocked iphone 6 limitations

My iPhone 6 (iOS 9.3.1) was purchased through Tmobile. I have since terminated that carrier and had them unlock the phone so I could use another carrier (GSM phone).

That is all fine and good. I have no problem with the new carrier. However, since then, I can no longer connect to my UVO system in my Kia automobile.

Previously, I would connect via USB to the built-in port. With that, I would be able to launch my Pandora app on the UVO screen. Now, I can not. In fact, I can't access any of the UVO apps.

My question is for the very knowledgable iPhone geniuses out there. Is there anything known that a (non-factory) unlock cause this? I have connected 2 other iPhones and they tested okay (including a factory unlocked iPhone SE).

My searches online have come up dry.

Thanks,

Traj

Okay, so you did not use iTunes and restore to factory, or restore to backup? I'm not positive, but I don't think that Erase all Content and Settings will replace the iOS, it only will only restore your backup, unless you set the device up as a new phone. That could have lead to a corrupt file being reintroduced to the device. In the future, unless you are going to restore to backup, it is best to connect the device to iTunes to restore to factory. At least that is what the support instructions appear to indicate.

I was just trying to understand what might have been happening that was impeding your attempt to correct the problem. Either way, it seems to be fixed now. I guess I was wanting to make sure in case someone else experiences a similar issue. Thank you for indulging me. 🙂

That is correct Chris. Erase All Content and Settings, does just that, it does not replace the iOS. However as you know better than me, a restore through iTunes does replace the iOS.

From wjosten, see the helpful reply: Does "reset and erase all content" update iOS?
