Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I have always had difficulty to change the transition time from 1s to 2s between two clips. So I always used the precision editor to make that happen. However in the latest version of iMovie, the precision editor has changed and does not allow me to drag the transition time to more than the default 1s. It only allows the location of transition to change and not the time. Please help.

Thanks Geoff. I really appreciate the fact that you did not give up on me and cared so much to somehow reproduce the problem that I have. But you had to modify your case to get to my situation while I get in this situation y default. I like your workaround. It is a lot of work because I have hundreds of these transitions in my project. But at least I have a painful workaround. Geoff, by any chance, do you work for Apple? If yes, I hope you provide the feedback to the development team to fix this issue and the fact that "apply to all" does not work at all. I tested it last night. It doesn't freeze or hand the iMovie any longer. But it leaves all the durations to previous numbers even between pictures. Thanks again for your help and support.
Do you not get the transition box if you go back to the precision editor after setting its new duration via the double-clicking route?
iMovie 10.1.1, which I still had on my laptop does not have this strange behaviour with the transition box disappearing. The warning appears though if there is not enough unused video to lengthen the transition and, as with the latest version does not do what it says it will when you select OK but leaves the transition unaltered.
I don't work for Apple, I am just a user like yourself. I have never understood why the clip durations are not just altered automatically (like they are when you add a default duration transition between two untrimmed clips).

After following your suggestion and workaround and getting to my 2s duration in transition, when I go back to precision editor, I still don't get the transition box in the editor. Bizarre.
Try setting the default transition duration to 2 s in iMovie preferences. Then delete each existing transition and replace it with a new one. The new ones should be 2s. This works for me and is quicker than the previous workaround.

I tried that after Rich mentioned to set my preference to 2s. But after delettion and insertion of a new transition, still comes with 1s duration.
