I have an iPhone 6 that I usually backup to the iCloud. For the first time I plugged my phone into my iTunes on my macbook to add music to my phone. iTunes thinks my phone is NEW and wants to create new phone or install from backup. Why?? I just want to add music to my phone and don't need to set it up nor install from backup. Any ideas?
It's because it's the first time that you've connected it to that computer, it's seeing and wants to treat it as a new device. You could try this user-tip : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
Thank you for responding King_Penguin. If I tell it to set up new phone is it going to pull the 'backup' from the iCloud since that is where the most recent backup is? Obviously my previous iPhones have been backed up to my iTunes but not my iPhone 6. Hope that made sense.

No, it will look for a backup on that computer's iTunes, it won't look in the cloud - if you don't have a backup from that phone it will show you other backups that are on the computer for you to select from (other iPhones, and iPod Touches and/or iPads if they are there)
