The "Photo & Avatar" business confuses me.
I've been unable to replace the shadow profile in the box above with an image -- see below. The leaves don't appear among the avatars and I can't move on from here. Also the image isn't quite what I want -- unlike the Avatars shown, it's been trimmed and made rectangular.
iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

You can have any photo showing; however, for now, you will need to choose one of the stock avatars......

If that bit of info was up-front in Your Photo & Avatar, it would save a LOT of confusion.
