Setting resolution on external monitor

Hi guys,

I have a new HP Monitor but my Macbook does not show the resolution I need. Can someone help me?

I have a 13inch MacBook Air with OS X El Capitan 10.11.14. Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

New HP monitor I bought is a HP Elitedisplay E232, ideal resolution is 1920*1080.

Connection via VGE cable with an Beon adapter to connect to Macbook.

The only options the external display shows are 1280 and 800. So while the display works fine, everything is distorted/streched out.

I have tried the HP Helpdesk but they have no clue and not very helpful when it is not all HP 🙂

Hi Kaz-k,

Thanks for sharing that and helping out.

However, I think I am one step further and have tried setting the right resolution as you can see from my screen grap.

The option I need is just missing from the list. Any thought how to solve this?

Sorry no, that display I did find already and that is where my screenshot is from.

I miss here the 1920 option, that is all...

Could it be my VGE connection rather than HDMI?
