I assume that with "Electronic Drummer" you mean the "Drum Machine Designer" and you recorded some MIDI Regions that play the drum part along with your Audio Regions.
You are right that the Drum Machine Designer doesn't have a "tempo x2" feature, because it doesn't know anything about tempo. It is basically a Sampler Instrument (Ultrabeat, to be specific) that just plays back MIDI Events (your MIDI Region). And there is the solution:
If you recorded a MIDI Region and want to play it back faster (time compress) or slower (time expand), you use the Trim Tool while holding down the option key. You will see a different Tool icon. Any length change now will keep all the MIDI Events in the Region (it does not truncate), instead, it stretches or compresses the MIDI Events, meaning, it plays them back faster or slower proportionally.
For example:
If you have a 4 bar MIDI Region of you drum groove, opt+drag the right border two bars to the left. Now, the Region is only two bars long, because the drum pattern (your MIDI Events) are played back twice as fast.

Hope that helps
