How to transfer files via USB cable to iPad?

Hey guys, I want to transfer some video files to my iPad Mini 3 as I don't want to use the wireless method. I can't plugin an external USB HDD to my iPad Mini 3 like my friend can with his Android device so what can I do?

Thanks for any help!

Is there a way I can use the adapter to plug a flash drive into my lightning iPad or iPhone to read the PDFs? If so, where will I be able to find the PDF files?

No.

That accessory does one thing. It allows certain video and photo files to be moved between an SD card and the Photos app.

Period.

No accessory will give you full access to the iOS filesystem.

iOS is not Android, Or Windows. Or even macOS.

It is a closed filesystem.

No.

The SanDisk App does NOT access the Intenet. It is only for accessing the Wifi drive only over the drive's own WiFi signal transmitter.

Why the paranoia over security and accessing the Internet?

Your security concens are coming through loud and clear and seem overreaching and/or of super critical concern or nature?

Are you a government official?

Work for govenment police or a sensitve government/military agency or military division?

Work for Private sector online security agency or underground government agency?

Work for private manufacturing company that has high security and other NDAs?

Work for an entertainment agency or film compnany/effects company the has high security?

Some sort of computer hacker?

What gives with all the security concerns?

If you have concens about the Wifi aspect of one of SanDisks drive, I supplied you with another SanDisk option that is a direct conncted drive to the iPad that may or may not need an app to singularly access this drive.

In any event, these drives use apps that accees the storage drive only.

There is no Intenet connection being made to these drives. These storage drives and apps do not send any data or pesonal info out to the Internet, at all.

These drives are portable, personal drives that no one has accees to, but you.

The app, also, may have a piece of software that allows password/passcode encryption of the drive, also, if you are concerned about the security of the data on those drives.

Wow. Your replies are appreciated!

It seems like the safest way to transfer files to my iPad Mini 3 from my Windows PC is to use the USB cable that came with the iPad in the Apple box, but I've never even tried to do this before...Is it a simple process?

I'm not a government official and I'm DEFINITELY not a hacker or doing anything illegal. I just want to make sure that my privacy is protected.

About File Sharing on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

You can copy files between your computer and apps on your iOS device using File Sharing. For example, you can create a document in Pages on your iPad, then copy it to your Mac so that you can open it in Pages for OS X.

And no, it does not involve an internet connection at all. and yes you must use iTunes.

The same security that prevents you from copying files directly through windows explorer os what makes iOs devices inherently more secure than windows or android can ever hope to be.

Yes it is and if you are using an secured network in your house that is not connected to the internet and you've set up security and a strong password that is also very secure. But yeah, you are being paranoid.

But none of them are totally secure. If your house and computer are not secured with lead or other radio wave security it is possible for someone to use tools and capture information that is transferred from your device to your computer (or vice versa) by parking by your house and reading the data on your computer.

Is it possible to make iTunes "function offline" so that's it's not able to contact the internet at all?

Yes, Turn off your internet connection. Unplug your computer from the internet.

And Yes you are being extremely paranoid. What makes you think iTunes is sending information about what you transfer back to Apple, and what makes you think Apple even cares what you transfer?

This is the poster's second such thread.

The tone of the other thread was that he/she wishes to transfer some content that he/she does not want exposed to the internet.

Fair enough.

The last thread had an element of trolling to it. The OP was give assurances this activity would be safe from the web, but did not seem to believe us.

Then why don't you accept the advice given you several times on each thread?

Your reluctance to accept what people, are saying at face value suggests two things to me. You are trolling or you are doing something illegal, unethical or immoral and don't wish to be caught.

Nobody expects you to detail what you are trying to do, but being so afraid of the internet knowing your business stands out. You stated earlier you only trust Apple, but then not those who volunteer to help fellow Apple users.
