How do I stop my purchased

I have a new iPod Touch and I also have an iphone. I want any music I purchase through itunes &/or cd music that I install on the ipod touch to NOT also be on my iphone. How do I keep it from doing that? I am worried about the music on my phone taking up too much storage space.
