Reduce white point helps save battery? It changes brightness or colours of pixels?

To conserve battery, reduce screen brightness. Minor color changes will not have any meaningful effect.

Then reduce white point does not change the brightness? Change the colour of pixels? If does not change brightness then no savving battery
