How to hide dot files in shared folders

We are replacing one of our Linux servers with OS X Server 5.1 running on El Capitan but cannot find a way to veto or hide dot files from Windows clients which have been set to show hidden files. We are used to tuning the smb.conf file to meet our specific needs. Unfortunately, smb.conf does not appear to be available in OS X Servber 5.1 and this could cause us to remain with our current Linux distro rather than implement OS X Server.

Does anyone know how to hide Apple dot files?
