Record French text to speech as mp3 file

I need to record French text to speech as an MP3 file I can save and play back on my iPad or iPhone. I know how to make an MP3 file as an iTunes track from a text file on my MacBook Pro but I only have access to my iPhone and iPad now. I've searched online and in the App Store for solutions but haven't come up with anything. Making a recording of my own voice with the Voice Recorder app doesn't produce a track with high enough quality.

Thanks for any help you can provide, pointing me to apps or iPad features I've yet to discover.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), iPad mini WiFi, 7.1, iPhone 8.4

Thanks for your reply, and that Voice Record Pro does look like a great app. What I need, though, is an app that *combines* converting text to speech with recording that converted speech in an MP3 file.

There's at least one online utility that converts text to speech and that might work if I could have Voice Record Pro running and recording in the background. A user's comment says that isn't possible.
