Late 2009 27" iMac Screen Replacement Cost?

Hello everyone, after buying/selling and trading on Craigslist for nearly 10 years now, ive been duked.

I picked up a late 2009 27" iMac, 3.x GHz, 8GB ram, 1TB HD, etc etc. Basically flawless condition. Keyboard and mouse look flawless as well, boxed up and everything. He was pretty far from me and we were both pressed for time, so I had him send me a video of it booting up, loading an app or two, etc. Also wanted him to show the screen, I asked if there were any blemishes, dark spots, bad pixels, etc. Showed me a video which looked fine, but then again, it was from a "POV" perspective, so it wasnt like right on the screen with the camera.

I met up with him, very friendly, stand-up guy (So I thought), we BS'ed for a while and then went our separate ways. I get home, unbox it, set it up on my desktop, and once it gets to the login screen, its a dark gray color and I see numerous lines going through the display, vertically. Like 15+ probably, but ONLY on the gray screen. You *can* see them on other colors, but its so hard, you have to be face to face and be looking in the exact spot.

My question is, how much is a replacement screen from Apple? I found a few old threads like 2010-2011 and back then it seemed to be like a $400ish repair, im sure the price has dropped since then, hopefully?

Thanks for any help! (PS, I only paid a couple hundred for this thing, and it works great, so its just more of an annoyance I guess)

Apple no longer makes replacement parts for that computer and only independent

Apple authorized service centers will work on it. As far as price, I have seen anywhere

from $500 to $1000 for a replacement. Be aware also, that some replacements, usually

the lower cost ones, are "scavenged" from used iMacs that had other issues.

For that model iMac, replacement parts are a sellers market and they can price it

at whatever the market will pay.
