Q: iBooks useless with broken sorting

Since installing iOS 9.3 iBooks has become useless.

There are some MASSIVE bugs in iOS ibooks... Sorting is completely broken. Sort by date in iTunes and you books on the iPad will appear in a random order. Peridically, the entire app will freeze, all books disappear, and after a couple of restarts reappear in another random order. I have around a 1000 books and periodicals on my iPad, all were listed in date order making it easy to find what I wanted. It's now useless.

COME ON APPLE, THIS IS A MAJOR BUG!!!!!

iPad Air, iOS 9.3.1

As you already know you are talking to fellow users on these forums, not Apple

If you think that there is a bug with iBooks, and if iOS 9.3.2 doesn't make any difference, try using the feedback page to leave feedback to Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/

I have, many times, as have thousands of others...

    Will it make any difference??

    I doubt it...

So, if anyone out there can give me a sensible reply, perhaps something constructive to get round the problem, I'd be grateful...

implies that you thought that you were talking to Apple on here, which you knew is not the case.

You've updated to 9.3.2 and that hasn't made any difference ? The feedback link is the only way to potentially get around to change things

Well it's an Apple site and one might have hoped that Apple would skate through here occasionally to see if there were any issues...

Of couse not. I'm surprised that as some sort of Apple 'guru' you don't know about this issue. It's been there since 9.3. THere are numerous threads on here and elsewhere complaining of the same issue. Despite numerous feedback messages to Apple nothing has changed. Yesterdays update has done nothing. iBooks is unusable for any serious work. Is Apple listening?

These are user-to-user forums, there are far too many forums / threads / posts on here for Apple to look at every single post - the feedback site is how to leave feedback to Apple

you can contact apple via their hotline or chat (for free btw).

when you went through everything with them, they will collect data and sent it to their engineers to supposedly fix the issue.

that is the only thing we can do at the moment. how to get personally in touch and get in the direction of a fix i just explained in the thread i linked here below (the very last post)

our best hope is that enough people annoy them that way, that they will actually fix the issue. i don't think the press on the major technic sites on the internet will report about the issue (which would have been the best way to get a fast fix).

ibooks doesn't work on ios 9.3 or 9.3.1! ideas for fixing?

*frustrated* That's me too Nigel.  I've rebooted and resynced so many times.  I've selected both date order in iTunes & device but all books on my shelf are totally mixed up.  I've been trying to find an alternative e-reader and discovered Marvin.  Seems ok so far.

chilligurl66, Can Marvin do sorting/arranging like this:

Before iOS 9.3 screwed up iBooks, I had manually arranged them under the Book Shelf option, by Author's last name, then first name. I next manually arranged each author's titles alphabetically with the exception of a series. Series titles were arranged chronologically with the SERIES TITLE used in the alphabetical titles arrangement.
