Audible pricing on the iTunes Store

Hi,

I finally took an account on audible for 9.95$ for a years, just to get a free book, and maybe buy a few mores when I whish at 30% of the regular price.

When I go on Audible, I see the price at 30% for all books. But the same books on the iTunes are at the regular price.

So the question is very simple:

Does iTunes and Audible are really separates entity selling (almost) the same book's library but at different price?

I would have thinked that when iTunes was registered with the Audible account, the books were priced at Audible 30% discount.

Audible provides the audiobook content for iTunes, but the pricing is determined by Apple. Audible & iTunes are separate entities. This is similar to the movie or TV studios that provide that content to the store. All pricing is worked in the contracts that these content providers have with Apple. Any discounts that apply to any of the audible.com memberships do not apply to purchases made in the iTunes store for audiobook content. This is exactly why I took out an audible monthly membership as I felt the pricing for audiobooks in the store was extremely expensive.

Thanks for the reply, that answer my question and confirm what I was thinking of about the pricing.

One thing that proves that it is 2 different stores is the fact that Harry Potter serie is available on iTunes (while really expensive, arround 300$ for the full serie), but not on Audible. Nut neither have the Lord of the Ring books!

Just another question:

If my girlfriend wants to have her own Audible account and add her books to the same iTunes library (mine, as we share the same music library), will iTunes be able to handle the two accounts in the same iTunes library?
