Mysterious Download Error Stuck in iTunes Store App on iPad Pro

On my iPad Pro there is an error with two video downloads in the iTunes Store app. The two download errors cannot be deleted so it just shows two download attempts for content in the download window. No way to re-start or delete the downloads. How can this be re-set? Edit function and pressing on the errors on this side dies nothing.

I've had exactly the same problem and to be clear I have yet to resolve this very annoying issue.

This is what I have done so far. Mostly on the advice of so called tech support from Apple!

  • SIgn out of all iTunes accounts - hard reboot, turned off and back on. Didn't work.
  • Full reset - the whole smash back to factory settings. Didn't work.
  • RE downloaded content from cloud onto my iPad. Didn't work.
  • The download errors are still there. Even when I have successfully downloaded the movies to my iPad!
  • Deleted the movies again. Re downloaded from iTunes Store directly. Didn't work.

What is interesting is that on the iTunes Store it looks like they are trying to download (Circle with a stop icon) but SD versions when I bought the HD versions.

So far, nothing, and I mean no combination of any known trouble shooting solutions has worked or even properly identified where this issue is.

Considering they are still there when the iTunes account is signed out would suggest it's native to the iPad. However a hard reset doesn't fix it.

I think it's a glitch with iTunes itself in the actual OS. Until a new update that fixes this I think theses errors are here to stay.

If anyone has a solution please post it, as its really doing my na-na in. And yes. I am a bit OCD about this kind of thing.

I paid a lot of money. I expect this **** thing to just work as expected and not have random errors hanging around.

OK. So I fixed it. I had one last go and the solution is such a basic hack I can't believe it worked. But it did.

For some reason it looks like there's a conflict set up by iTunes between the HD and SD download.

First. Sign out of everything you require an Apple ID for. iTunes, iCloud, the lot.

go to the iTunes Store.

find the movie that's stuck.

toggle between SD and HD Versions. You should see a purchase option and then see a circle with a stop icon (square) inside - the download icon.

try and re purchase the movie and it will ask you to input Apple ID etc. Don't. Cancel.

Toggle to the download icon. Press it repeatedly.

if it doesn't ask you for your Apple ID go back and try and buy it again. Then cancel again. Repeat previous step.

You need itunes to ask for your Apple ID after pressing the download icon.

If you get this request input your ID and password and the error goes away.

SImple.
