Audio from only one Channel

Hello all, I have a Mid 2014 Macbook Pro, and recently, the headphone jack has only been playing out of one the right channel, and is playing very, very quietly, with the volume on full, it is about as loud as it would be on one or two clicks. There is no red light on for the optical audio, and I have tried a variety of headphones. All other audio output methods are working normally, such as bluetooth speaker or built in speakers. Prior to having this issue, I was experimenting with a home-made amplifier, and I presume that is what killed the input. But I am wondering what precisely went wrong, and how to resolve this issue.

Thanks.

1. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18761

2. Reset SMC.

Choose the method for “On Mac notebooks with non-removable battery”.

3. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup

Audio Devices window

Side Bar

Click the Built-in Output.

Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

Make sure that CH1 and CH2 volume sliders are at the middle and matched.

I have tried all three solutions and none of them have resolved the problem, do you have any other solutions? I really don't want to have to go to an Apple store, as the nearest Apple store is over 5 hours away, and the nearest certified apple retailer is more than 3. I understand that purchasing an external USB DAC would solve the problem, but since the internal DAC is still functioning, as the speakers still work, would there be any alternative to purchasing one?
