Formatting a 4-page bulletin printed on both sides of the paper?

How do I format a 4-page bulletin, to be printed on both sides of the paper and then folded over in the middle to create the bulletin?

After printing, bulletin-page 1 should print on the right side of the first printed page and bulletin-page 3 should print on the left side of the first printed page. Bulletin-pages 3 and 4 should print left and right respectively on side 2 the printed page. After the printing, the bulletin-pages should be in numerical sequence after the page is folded over in the middle.

Layout your newsletter:

Outside: [Page4/Page1]

Inside: [Page2/Page3]

and print that.

If you want full imposition for more complex layouts Swift Publisher will let you creatre the individual pages then combine them for print output.

Thanks for the reply.

I had already figured out the proper page layout for Outside vs. Inside pages. But what is vexing me is that when I print two-sided, the Inside pages are upside down. I've tried rotating the text boxes and swapping sides but it is still not right. My real preference is to just type individual pages 1 through 4 and then have PAGES software format the bulletin in the proper order AND orientation.

With all of the templates available in PAGES I'm surprised not to see a basic fold-over bulletin template. Anyway, is a fold-over bulletin the type of "complex layout" that will need Swift Publisher?

Pages v5.6.2 has two tri-fold brochures named Elegant and Museum.

The bulletin layouts in the OS X Print panel do not support Outside: [page 3 / page 1] and Inside [page 2/ page 4] as you intend.

You are just feeding the paper back in wrong or if you are doing it using a duplexing Printer Driver, you have not laid out your pages correctly.

Do the appropriate tests to see which way things need to feed through and fall on the paper.

Put simple numbers on the pages in the right places and orientations and before you print add the details of the settings you are using on the layout.

Then you can compare the printed layout, method and result to sort them out.

It's not hard if you are methodical.

Hi gssuv,

If your printer allows duplexing, have you tried Short-Edge binding?
