Notification center widget opens wrong app

I have the Kindle app on my iphone, which comes with a notification center widget. Recently -- I think it was after the recent iOS update -- the widget has started opening the wrong app. Instead of opening the Kindle app, it opens a weather app from a local TV station.

I tried deleting and reinstalling the Kindle app, which made no difference. I tried deleting the other app (the one wrongly opened) — and the Kindle widget started opening a different wrong app instead (in fact, the one next to the wrong app it had previously been opening).

The system clearly knows somewhere that the Kindle widget is for the Kindle app, because when I deleted the Kindle app, the widget was no longer listed in the Notification Center, and when I reinstalled it, the widget was back. But it reliably opens the wrong app when I use it. Very peculiar! Any suggestions?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.2

I have this exact same issue. The Kindle WIDGET shows the last three or so books that I am actively reading. Tapping on one of those books will result in opening a local weather app, in my case "First Alert Weather" by Raycom Media Inc., which is a weather app for Jackson Mississippi.

Now, if I delete the weather app, then the kindle widget will properly open the Kindle app! But after that, re-installign the weather app caused the widget to return to opening the weather app.

Something is cross calling the Weather app from the widget.

On Kindle forum, I have also read that a person has attached a kindle ebook in an email, and opting to "Open With Kindle" the attachment results in a weather app opening for her ...

This seems to be new to iOS 10.0

Do a forced restart - After shutting down all open apps using the app switcher - invoked by quick double press of the home button and swiping up on each app till it flies off the screen.

Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons down together till you see  logo - then release and allow normal boot up

If this does not re set the system - then you may have to wait for an iOS update to fix the issue as you have reliably tried most of what we would recommend

The only other is a restore to factory defaults - but honestly - not sure that it would impact your issue

btw ... force restart, closing both apps in the background, opening one app first, etc etc etc and ALL possible combinations does NOT fix the issue ... I have tried ever possible combination there is to try ...

The ONLY thing that helps is to DELETE the weather app ... and do not re-install it at all ... leave it off your phone!

or

Don't use the Kindle WIDGET at all ...

one or the other ... you can not have both with this bug ...

And, no one from Kindle understands the problem, No one from the Weather app feedback understands the issue ... perhaps Apple at least understands the issue ...

But I have the question of: Who is responsible to fix the bug? Apple, Kindle, or the Weather App ?
