The letter E is not working on my iphone 5
I can not hit the letter E on my phone, it jumps to the left and right when ever I type. If I use the microphone it works no problem. Can this be fixed? I just did the latest software update last week.

Hello Agill72,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I have some isolation questions, so we can hopefully help you identify how wide spread this issue is.
1. Multiple App Test
- Does the issue with the E on the keyboard occur within multiple applications?
Example: Messages, Mail, Notes & Safari.
2. Orientation
- Does the issue persist if you rotate the iPhone screen and use the keyboard in landscape mode vs. portrait?
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204547
3. Keyboard Type
- Are you using any other keyboards on the iPhone?
* Settings - General - Keyboard - Keyboards
4. Protective Screen cover / case
- Are you currently using a protective screen cover and or case on the iPhone?
The questions above will offer us further insight into this issue and better help the community in providing you additional guidance.
Hello,
Thank you for the extra information. There might be a potential issue with the "touch screen" within that particular area of the screen itself. I would advise doing the following.
1. Backup to iCloud & iTunes
How to back up your devices using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
2. Restore via iTunes
Once the restore is done. During the iOS Setup Assistant, if it asks you to enter your "Apple ID" username, try using the letter E to see if the key works. If the key fails to work correctly when holding the iPhone normally. You'd want to look into visiting your local Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider or contact AppleCare, so they can assist with running hardware diagnostic and assisting with service options as needed. You can always restore your backup to your repaired / replaced device if they determine you have a hardware issue. iTunes will also allow you to restore your backup if you followed the above steps.
