Stand hours not accurately recorded

I've noticed that my Apple Watch seems capricious about whether or not to record the hours when I'm standing. It ALWAYS misses at least one or two a day. Even when it reminds me to stand, and I do - always for more than the one minute minimum - it only records my compliance about 75% of the time (hours).

For example, it did "tickle" (haptic) me at 11:55 AM, so I got up, used the bathroom (standing) and went downstairs to leave a letter for the mail carrier to pick up. I got bakck to my study about 12:05. It hadn't recorded either the 11:00 or 12:00 hours.

I got up again about 12:45 to go downstairs to make and eat lunch (all standing), took our dog outside for a few minutes while reading the newspaper (all standing) and got back to my study about 1:15.

I got up from my computer a few minutes ago to go downstairs to get something to drink and noticed that it never recorded my standing time during to 1:00 hour. Back at my computer after 15 minutes on my feet, including down and up a flight of stairs and the vertical line for the 2:00 hour is "pulsing" with light, but hasn't yet recorded my 15-20 minutes of standing during this hour.

This is a bit unusual, because normally it will record an hour with a fair amount of activity, but it's very annoying to have at least some "failing to report" every single day. I keep thinking there'll be a software fix for this, but no one have addressed this problem so far.

I can' imagine I'm the only person experiencing this "Chinese water torture" or persistent error ... at least a little every day! Has anyone else had this problem? Better yet, does anyone know how to fix it?

Hi

During general daily wear, the Activity app relies on data from the built-in accelerometer when tracking progress towards the app's daily goals. The watch measures and interprets your arm movements, translating them into Stand credit and other estimations (steps, Exercise, distance, etc).

Standing and moving around for at least one continuous minute during any given hour should result in Stand credit being awarded for that hour. A reminder is issued (when enabled) at xx:50 if the Stand goal has not yet been met within that hour.

It may help to allow the arm on which you are wearing your watch to move naturally as you change from seated to a standing position and also to swing naturally as you move around.

Calibration can also improve the accuracy of various estimations made by your watch. Calibration teaches your watch how your arm movements relate to your stride lengths at different speeds when you are walking and/or running. It does this by comparing data from the accelerometer with GPS (Location Services) data from your iPhone.

Activity app estimations also depend, in part, on your personal information. To check that this is accurate - and to update it over time:

- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.
