how to mount a .smi file

I am running OS X el capitan. I downloaded a printer driver that is packaged as a .smi file. Is there any way to convert it to .dmg format or mount it directly?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

This discussion leads to link for a program that can give you access to the contents of the file. The program costs $20.00 USD, and it still will not remedy your problem.

You require device drivers for your specific OS and hardware, and the SMI file is intended to run on an OS9 device.

The previous replier was thinking of MSI files, you did grab a Mac driver (.smi), but it's for the wrong Mac OS.
