External USB Floppy drive does not mount

I bought an external USB drive to read old 3.25 inch floppies. System USB report "sees" the device named TEACV2.0 (brand is SABRENT.) But it does not mount in the finder for me to copy old files. Mfger's tech support suggestions do not work. They say, "Mac? It's plug and play. Insert the disk first then connect to USB port." Does not work.

I run OSX 10.11.1 on MBP Retina 13 (late 2013)

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

exactly what kind of old 3.5-in floppies?

if you are trying to read 800K floppies, the only drives that could ever do that were shipped inside beige Macs.

No other manufacture produced a sony-compatible variable-speed drive that could read and write that format, except of a few that were (you guessed it) shipped inside beige g3 Macs.

I just dug behind my screen for the floppy drive that I thought was there, loaded a fairly arbitrary 1.2M byte floppy (punch-outs on both sides) and it read fine. so the capability is not lost.

WOOT! --- Disk Utility in 10.11.5 can see it, and First-Aid it, and is ready to Erase it as well!
