How to make El Capitan run fast like a pro?

Since the time i have upgraded my Macbook pro from OS Yosemite to El Capitan, my life has changed completely. Every time I open the apps,it clogs. It freezes like bringing me back to the dark ages. I have never seen any machine running so slow. It is not 1 timer,it becomes an every day story. I Need urgent help & suggestions.

Is there anyone facing the same issues and any solutions to it?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), null

Please post the results of your EtreCheck report. It's a diagnostics tool developed by a trusted and respected contributor here, and it will allow us to see what is installed on your hard drive in the way of applications, drivers, plugins, extensions, etc. No sensitive information is included in the report, such as names, e-mail addresses, or serial numbers.

I’m no technical expert here - just a punter with the same problem on a mid-2010 15 inch MBP. I’m a very late adopter of Apple upgrades, and only reluctantly upgraded to El Capitan when my iphone stopped syncing properly. It turned the MBP into a snail - taking over 5 minutes just to boot up.

I spoke to a tech guy in the Apple store who said the HDD was probably wearing out, and runnng out of space. Suggested to upgrade to a SSD and upgrade RAM. It’s well out of warranty so I did this myself just using youtube as a guide:

https://www.ramcity.com.au/view/installation-videos/installation_videos#mbpssd

500GB Samsug Evo SSD and 8 GB DDR3 1066 RAM plus cloning cable $AUD290

It took about 8 hours to clone the 320GB internal HDD to the new SSD. The whole machine now boots in under 1 minute. MS Office opens almost instantly. Safari and Mail almost instant. Disc speed has gone from 25Mbps to 255 Mbps.

For less than $300 it has made the MBP much better with El Capitan.

Perhaps this might work if you’re also runnig an old machine

Your last Etrecheck report indicated that you still have adware installed:

Adware:

~/Library/LaunchAgents/Listchack.AppRemoval.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/Manroling.update.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/Swissfist.AppVemoral.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/Swissfist.btvlit.plist

A simple, quick and safe way to remove adware and malware is to download and use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Macs. It's was developed by one of the most respected and top contributors in these forums and recommended by nearly all of the top contributors here.

If you would prefer to do it manually follow these instructions from theSafeMac.com site (author of Malwarebytes): Adware Removal Guide

As previously mentioned, more Ram might help. The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a early 2008 iMac supposedly limited to 4 GB and noticed an improvement.

Depending on your workflow, maybe - that is if you mostly do internet browsing and some word documents, email, etc. If you are into editing photos, movies, videos, anything to do with graphics results in intense processor activity - aside from plenty of space on your hard drive, a fast processor and good graphics card, absolutely more RAM will help. I'd consider 8 GB the minimum; I have that on my MBP, but I don't do anything "heavy" on it. On my iMac, I have 16 GB and consider that the minimum while I'm encoding videos, editing movies, etc.

The fact is: the old Snow Leopard OS (one of the best OS versions) did everything nicely (albeit slowly comparatively speaking) with 2 - 4 GB; the newer versions are far more RAM hungry.
