Are the ASC English, Japaneses, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese communities linked.

I signed up to the Portuguese community under a different alias. I used the same apple id.

I would like to signup for the Spanish community. Should I create a new community alias? May I use one of my two existing aliases?

How are points dealt with between the community. I have zero points for the Portuguese forum.

I should have gotten the details before.

This page doesn't contain the css class .j-browser-place.

I do not see any problems with the page when running under user content css. I agree when you make the page narrower some of the elements like "busca o haz ..." jump further than I would have expected. This field seems to jump to a place with more horizontal space.

There is a choice here. Either you set the page up to adjust to changes in the window width or not. The css does. The apple page does not. The apple result is to have everything get clipped when the window width gets smaller. The results with the css get a little crunched when the windows width is rather small, but you see everything. Overall, I think its best to adjust the text to be on the screen than have it clipped.

and in the early afternoon today, I discovered these lines have a lot to do with adjust or clip. Hiroto knows his css.

   /* This css causes the text to reflow instead of getting cut off.
      It has a side effect of trimming the "Q" in question but the text
      get reflowed.
   */
    #body-apple {
        width: 100% !important;
        min-width: 0px !important;
    }

One could improve the page, but wad [working as designed ] for now.

methinks the adjustments Robert, I and others would want are "form" rather than function = threads have too much wasted space and the font's too big is about all I have issue with. Lists are basically un-phased.

All in all, I think "neophytes" (Vicky's term) will find it pretty satisfying and mostly intuitive... It all works the same as it ever did (mostly)

Apple's web design team is behind the times. They haven't done the design with Responsive Web Design techniques. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsive_web_design

The css implements Responsive Web Design as best it can. I have a 14" laptop screen. The current ASC is impossible to use on my monitor. The new Spanish etc. sites may be slightly better, but not enough to ditch the css. Yes, I think Apple should be doing this.

As ccc indicates, it's the same as before with the exception of the display of posts. The display is overly bland and doesn't highlight the question with the correct response and helpful responses. Which is Apple's stated objective.

More comments here.

Let's look at a new ASC list page.

Remember all the complaining two years ago ? I decided to get into the Lounge and work for change from the inside. Below are some of the changes I've been championing.. Below is the basic overview page.

Use of the full width of the page.

Start the question on the left margin, not 1/3 of the way in.

Addition of view and replys, like the old style discussion page.

Inclusion of both the OP's and latest replier's usernames. Once again like the old discussion page. No more having to open a question to see if has been answered.

The page numbers are back. No more view more.

Lately i've been wondering if the effort I put into getting into the Lounge and always trying to maintain a civil discourse have been worth it. After seeing the changes I now feel my time was well spent.

Enjoy, we'll live. We're ASC and we solve problems. 🙂

Just a few "measurements" to bolster your position on "use all of the display width"

(IMHO, the thread page is the one that needs most modification - another time perhaps?)

User uploaded file

one is presented with this on a computer when visiting a forum "list" page - if the goal is to direct the visitor to the search box, mission accomplished

User uploaded file

one "jump scroll" (page down key on a computer) shows a list that has a LOT of "white space" - even more than 2 summers ago!

the annotations are self-explanatory = the "jump to" COULD be the words "next to the username" to overcome the Leaderboard Panel function
