SMS: link to multiple phone numbers?

Hi,

I am trying to setup a html link on my website to enable people to send a text message to 2 phones in one go.

Sending to a single phone would be something like sms:+61400123123 (I haven't put the full URL in, just the important part for SMS).

However, I want to send to 2 phones, so I thought sms:+61400123123,+61400999000 would work. It works on my wife's Samsung, but I can't get it to work on my iPhone.

Does anyone know how to encode an HTML Link to multiple SMS numbers that iPhone will honour?

Many Thanks

Marcus

If it doesn't work, I would try a semi-colon

example—

<ahref="sms:+61400123123;+61400999000">Two numbers</a>

from my brief understanding, unfortunately there is no way to send a SMS to multiple recipients from a web app on iPhones with the sms code.

Maybe there is a php work a round

thanks for the link.

I tried the option in that link that suggested SMS:// rather than just the SMS: but that still doesn't work.

On a Samsung, sms:+61400123124,+61400999000 works but on my iPhone the text message application just comes up with +61400123124, in the send to box with the cursor after the comma, expecting new numbers to be added....:(

So it knows that there should be something after the comma but is loosing the 2nd number along the way...

Hi Michael,

Oh OK...

Can I then just check a couple of things with you as it doesn't seem to work for me..

Is the full URL <a href="sms://open?addresses=1-408-555-1212,1-408-555-2121,1-408-555-1221&body=My sms text">Try This</a> ?

If that is correct, can you tell me what iOS version you are using? I am using iOS 7.1.2.

Assuming you are on a higher version, do you know what version this issue was fixed in?

Many thanks for your help, it is appreciated

thanks

Marcus
