Imac- late 2009.
El Capitan 10.11.5. 2.66 GHz. 16 GB DDR3.
Trying to check for hardware issues. Turned Imac off and turned back on holding the D key till grey screen started. Booted normally.
Held D till booted- nothing.
Held Option and D- nothing.
Suggestions?

On your 2009 without a firmware upgrade, you will have to find the original install DVD and run AHT from the Disk2.

I am doing the same as you have said but the disk is not starting, it keeps coming out from the laptop, what can i do?
