my macbook pro receive a message from support Buddy there is a malware virus in it It is a tech scam?

My mac book pro receive a message from Support Buddy that there is a malware virus in it and asking for $350 to buy a software fix. And also immediatly want me to pay credit card. I didn't. I wonder is it a tech scam? but they use Apple's support name. And how can I know if my mac is really has virus or not, please help.
